THE PINK FLAMINGOS
The Pink Flamingos are one of the most successful, dynamic, and completely unique touring entertainment groups performing today. They have traveled throughout Europe: representing the United States at The World Cup Soccer Finals in Paris, performing for Fed Ex in Monte Carlo, as well as for Ameritech in Brussels for two consecutive years. They count among their clients and friends the best of the Fortune 500: AT&T, Ford, GM, GE, IBM, Microsoft, Boeing, AOL, Merrill Lynch, State Farm, and Daimler Chrysler to name a few.
The October 2000 edition of Inc. Magazine proclaims The Pink Flamingos-
“the official band of the Inc. 500. They have been bringing down the house at our annual conferences for almost 10 years now.”
The Pinks began in the early 80's as a non-profit children's theatre touring Canada and the USA. They gained a reputation for diversity and uniqueness tackling various performing arts- mime, juggling, music, singing, clowning and the Japanese art form Bunraku puppetry. Eventually the troupe settled in Albuquerque, NM and became a vital force in the community. Following the entrepurial spirit of the region they began several businesses. Their aim- to found an arts community in the Southwest region. The business ventures became barter focal points eventually providing the means to create a 7.000 foot facility in the mountains between Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
The name The Pink Flamingos came about after a devastating fire burned the center to the ground. The troupe refocused, renamed and rebuilt. As a musical act they brought with them a foundation of theatre skills and quirkiness. Their uniquness payed off and quickly they found themselves in demand, especially in the Corporate Entertainment circuit. The demand grew and grew resulting in a decade long world tour. The rest, as they say, is history...
The group provides a wide range of music, from elegant and classy Dinner Music to Broadway show tunes; from themed extravaganzas to energetic and unpredictable Dance Party. All with a flair and enthusiasm that harks back to their theatre roots. In fact much of The Pink Flamingos reputation today is built on the street performer art of accurately "reading the audience" and guiding the performance based on that. The result is highly engaging and motivating.
Throughout their non-stop performance (they did away with "breaks" early on in their career) they have the audience out of their seats, on their feet, (and even up on the stage) all night long. They combine audience participation with choreography, outrageous original costuming, handpainted backdrops, theatre bits and music everyone knows to produce an evening often described as- unexpected, unprecedented and unforgettable!
